Matte and ultra-matte are no longer “nice-to-have” finishes. Today they’re expected to be transparent, mechanically strong, and warm to the touch—often on challenging substrates and in waterborne systems. That’s why Lamberti develops inherently-matte PUD resins and combines them, when needed, with complementary technologies to let surface performance truly emerge.
Matte& UltraMatte PUD Resins
Challenging the senses—through matte performance
Chemistry
Engineered Chemistry for Consistent Matte Performance
Lamberti’s matte and ultra-matte polyurethane dispersions are engineered at the molecular level to deliver inherent matte effect, precise gloss control and reproducible surface quality across wood, architectural substrates, plastics and synthetic materials.
Matte-defining architecture is integrated directly into the binder through proprietary synthesis and tightly controlled processes, ensuring uniform particle morphology, controlled distribution and consistent
film formation without haze or visual defects. Within the Esacote® portfolio, matte and ultra-matte PUDs can be used alone or combined with Decosphaera® and Spheromers® polymeric matte agents to fine-tune gloss, texture and haptic response—providing a reliable, repeatable toolbox for achieving exact performance targets
Portfolio
ESACOTE® & ROLFLEX®: the matt binder platform
Matte performance starts with the binder.
ESACOTE® is one of Lamberti’s core technologies for matte and ultra-matte solutions: resins that can be used stand-alone or tuned to target gloss and haptics through compatible matting systems.
Alongside ESACOTE®, selected ROLFLEX® grades extend the platform for synthetic materials, delivering true matt finishes with soft feel and durability where substrate hiding and resistance are critical.
From matte binders to deep matte & haptics: Decosphaera® / Spheromers®
When the target requires deeper matte, higher burnish resistance or specific tactile signatures, Lamberti pairs matte PUD binders with Decosphaera® and Spheromers® polymeric beads—positioned on the site as high-performing matting agents for durable matte and soft-touch effects.
This is the core advantage of the platform: ESACOTE® and ROLFLEX® set the film, while Decosphaera® and Spheromers® tune surface profile, helping keep gloss, feel and resistance aligned over time.
Applications
Matte Performance Across Real Applications
Matte and ultra-matte PUD resins are designed for surfaces where appearance, tactile quality and durability must perform together under real use conditions. Across wood, synthetic materials, industrial coatings and architectural paints, Lamberti’s solutions deliver stable matte finishes that maintain transparency, mechanical strength and warm touch without compromise.
Engineered to work in 1K systems or crosslinked formulations, these PUDs allow resistance, adhesion and weathering to be enhanced—also through blending with non-matte Esacote® and Rolflex® grades—while preserving gloss level and haptic response. The result is matte performance that remains consistent over time, even where surfaces are handled, cleaned and exposed every day.
