Sustainability programs updates

The elimination of single-use plastics

By Anna Santoro, Sustainability Project Coordinator

Lamberti USA: it’s a green day!

Lamberti USA joined the global Lamberti project for the elimination of single-use plastics, at the same time also launching a Recycling Program.

In October our colleagues in Chattanooga, Wharton and Conroe received thermal bottles to replace water plastic bottles and cups. To boost engagement, bottles were personalized with individual names.
In addition, the company committed to no longer purchasing styrofoam cups for coffee, gradually replacing the styrofoam cups with a recyclable paper option. Lamberti USA took this opportunity to set up a recycling program for the more common items. Separate waste collection was promoted in individual offices and breaking rooms.

Kathy Dimataris, (Environmental & Product Compliance Manager and GSA in Wharton, TX), co-ordinated and supported the whole operation involving the colleagues of the three plants.
All Lamberti USA team welcomed this initiative with both enthusiasm and dedication, turning this into another landmark achievement for Lamberti!

Lamberti Brasil: supporting hospital with plastic bottle caps

Lamberti Brasil: supporting hospital with plastic bottle caps

Lamberti Brasil’s project involved two aspects: both environmental and social.

The celebration of World Nature Conservation Day on July 28th was the opportunity to promote the use of thermal bottles with an internal advertising campaign.
Alannah Guerrero (R&D Manager LATAM and GSA in Lamberti Brasil) says: “The engagement was surprising! We received a lot of good feedback from the local employees. Even the colleagues working at the production site are always carrying their bottles on the backpacks and drinking from them during work intervals and while preparing to get back home”.

Moreover, the Brazilian team organized the collection of plastic bottle caps to donate to Hospital de Amor de Campinas, a local hospital that serves children undergoing oncology treatment through the Brazilian Public Health System (SUS). Staff was invited to bring caps from home and collect them in the company.

Social commitment is nothing new for Lamberti Brasil’s colleagues (see the Lamberti Transforma and Lamberti Acelera projects).

On October 27th Alannah Guerrero and Daiane Lisboa (HR Coordinator and GSA in Lamberti Brasil) delivered to the hospital almost 6 full plastic drums (50L each) and more than 30kg of plastic bottles. All the donated caps are stored and will be sent to the recycling partner to get funds.
Our colleagues were very well received by the employees of the hospital and provided an appreciation letter regarding our donation.

Other projects are in progress. Further updates are coming soon!
